ABOUT
Welcome! My name is April Coleman, and I’m the owner of Created Resources. I started offering summer art camps in 2019 and am so excited to serve our local community through our new studio, a dream come true which we opened in March 2023! I am a certified teacher with a Ph.D. in education, and I have 20 years of teaching experience, including gifted education, art instruction, and teacher preparation.
I have a passion for helping children and women identify, develop, and use their creative potential and thrive in the identity and purpose they were created for. I accomplish this in two ways:
Offering skills-based art classes, camps, events, and kits
Offering faith-based art events and products
I’m also a wife, mom, adjunct education professor, and coffee enthusiast. I live in Tuscaloosa, Alabama with my husband, our two girls, and our Springerdoodle Lucy. I’m grateful you’re here and would love to hear from you! Click here to contact me.
CLASSES, EVENTS & PRODUCTS
ART CLASSES
After School & Homeschool Kids/Teen Weekly Art Classes
Gain an introduction to the elements of art, famous artists/styles, and a variety of art materials in Beginner Art classes. Intermediate/Advanced Art students go more in-depth to explore more advanced drawiing/painting techniques. Session content does not repeat, and we love working with returning and new students!
Ladies’ Weekly Art Classes
Do you love creating but lack the time/margin in your current schedule? Ladies of all ages are invited to meet in the studio for an hour one morning a week to paint, create, and connect! Topics will include watercolor and acrylic (and possibly some water based oil painting) techniques, to grow in our creative practice in a low stress, non-judgmental environment. The goal of this class is for women to use art as a way cultivate feelings of peace and stress relief as they create. Classes will begin in Fall 2024 - email to get on our interest list!
Preschool Monthly Art Classes
“Mommy and me” monthly preschool classes will be centered on process art projects and sensory friendly stations to engage 3-5 year olds with art in a FUN, developmentally appropriate way! With the goal of integrating literacy and STEM with art, these classes are sure to be both an enriching and meaningful experience for your child. MONTHLY ADULT/TEEN STUDIO EVENTS
We’ve got an exciting fall event schedule in the works featuring monthly events hosted by guest instructors and Created Resources artists for adults and tween/teen girls. Bible journaling, floral arranging, cookie decorating, and texture painting are on the list so far, with a few other possibilities! Watch email and social media for updates.
GROUP ART EVENTS
Events may be held in our studio, or we will travel to your preferred location to host an on-site event.

ART EDUCATION & IN-SCHOOL FIELD TRIPS
Did you know we partner with SPECTRA (Special Teaching Resources in the Arts), The Arts Council of Tuscaloosa’s guide to educational opportunities in the arts for your classroom? The Arts Council helps to fund art education in all Northport schools, as well as helping connect all West AL schools with arts-related learning opportunities.
